Pharmascenery is my experimental home for essays about drugs, healing, and labor, mostly, and how they push against, get subsumed by, and intertwine with capitalism, written from my experiences as a long-time human research subject and contract worker.
What to expect:
A mixture of personal essays, rants, and journalistic forays
Writing that’s careful, personal, critical, and led with curiosity (And backed by research. And pro-science)
A lot of rumination about Big Pharma, drug testing, and the people who test our drugs
Stories about the overlooked labor (eg. Amazon delivery driving, sex work, guinea pigging, contract work, and poverty hustles)
I’m currently figuring out how to balance a posting schedule with my new job (Yikes!), and my current output is about one article a month—although I’m hoping to double that soon.
It’s new, and I’d love your input! (And support.)
